Job Summary: Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for the coordination and execution of engineering of medium-voltage and high-voltage air/Gas insulated substation projects including Modifications/Upgradation of existing substation in the 34.5kV – 550kV range. Substation Design Engineer will perform standard electrical engineering computations or analysis and perform basic design tasks applying standard techniques and procedures. 

Responsibilities: 

• Attend pre-engineering and pre-construction client meetings at substations located at various places within the US. 

• Implement engineering and design knowledge of NESC & NEC. 

• Work with project team to provide design and engineering in areas including, but not limited to: 

Substation / switchyard general arrangement, layout & elevations | Grounding studies and design | Equipment selections and reviewing vendor drawings/ specifications | Equipment documentation reviews | Auxiliary power (AC and DC) design | Raceway system/trench & conduit design | Bill of Materials | Lightning protection analysis and design | Illumination design | Prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC & DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring | Review existing drawings/conditions and incorporate changes per customer requirements/standards 

• Collect data and gather information and support the production of engineering design. Generate design and detail drawings including orthographic, plans/sections, and isometrics by using 2D or 3D CAD software / computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD or Micro Station/Bentley 3D. 

• Prepare, update and support the project execution, in own area of responsibility, and proactively manage this work in accordance with the project schedule with emphasis on; On-time delivery, Quality of deliverables and project costs, project safety. 

• Follow PALLANTUS INC. Quality processes and document control procedures to ensure design documents/deliverables are complete and accurate. Notify the project lead of any difficulties encountered in the engineering/design that may impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the PALLANTUS project deliverables and provide recommendations for solutions. 

Qualifications / Required Skills: 

• Individuals should have a four-year accredited electrical engineering degree with power system emphasis. 

• In depth understanding of fundamentals of power system analysis. 

• Knowledge and hands on training developing drawings using 2D or 3D AutoCAD or Micro Station CAD software OR one year work experience in electrical substation design. 

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. 

Additional Requirements: 

• Passed the EIT examination. 

• Prior experience with technical and commercial high voltage systems. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Travel is required; up to 30% within the USA. 

• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for the United States.

Job Summary: Substation Design Engineer III (Sr Engineer) will be responsible for the coordination and execution of engineering of medium-voltage and high-voltage air insulated substation projects including Modifications/Upgradation of existing substation in the 34.5kV – 550kV range. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• You will collect data and gather information from different disciplines and analyze to support engineering design. 

• Also be responsible for coordination and interface with other disciplines working with same projects such as civil, protection and control, automation engineering, engineering and design studies, utility standards, Vendors, Procurement, Environmental, NERC requirements of substation for new projects/Modifications/Upgradation on existing substations. 

• Substation Designer Engineer III will perform standard electrical engineering computations or analysis and perform basic design tasks applying standard techniques and procedures. 

• Visit client facilities and/or jobsites for job assessment and data gathering as needed, attend meetings at customer substation locations. 

• As needed you will Interact and communicate effectively with clients, project managers, other design disciplines, vendors, contractors, and other team members to report project status and address project-related issues. 

• Follow PALLANTUS INC. Quality processes and document control procedures to ensure design documents/deliverables are complete and accurate. 

• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret engineering design codes and regulations and apply them to the project design guidelines/ documents. Implement engineering and design based on requirement and recommendations per National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American National Standard Institute (ANSI), and Design Guide for Rural Substations. 

• Review the work of other engineers and designers and evaluate completeness and accuracy. 

Qualifications / Required Skills: 

• Individuals should have a four-year accredited electrical engineering degree and have a minimum of six years’ experience as a Substation Design Engineer. 

• In depth knowledge of Electrical substation drawings using 2D or 3D AutoCAD or Micro Station CAD software OR one-year work experience in electrical substation design. 

• A PE license (of any state) is required.

Job Summary: PALLANTUS is seeking a Senior Relay Engineer, who specializes in the design, configuration, and analysis of protective relay systems for high-voltage substations. This role ensures the safe and reliable operation of transmission and distribution networks by developing relay settings, logic diagrams, and coordination studies. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement protective relay schemes for substations (4.16kV to 500kV). 

• Create relay settings, logic diagrams, and configuration files for microprocessor relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB). 

• Perform fault analysis and relay coordination studies using tools like Aspen OneLiner or Siemens CAPE. 

• Ensure compliance with NERC PRC standards and other regulatory requirements. 

• Conduct quality reviews of relay setting packages and protection/control designs. 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on substation projects. 

• Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of relay systems. 

• Lead technical discussions with clients and vendors. 

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standard development. 

• Prepare technical documentation and reports. 

Qualifications / Required Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (master’s preferred). 

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred or in active pursuit. 

• 5–10+ years of experience in relay protection and control engineering. 

• Proficiency in relay software tools (e.g., AcSELerator, EnerVista, MiCOM). 

• Strong understanding of IEC 61850, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards. 

• Experience with transmission line protection (e.g., line differential, pilot schemes). 

• Familiarity with digital substations and renewable energy integration. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, leadership, strong analytical, project coordination, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
